OCTOBER FGN SAVINGS BOND: INVESTORS FACE LOWER YIELD AFTER MONETARY POLICY RATE CUT

By Asalu Adegboyega Yinka

The FGN Savings Bond for October 2026 is now available for subscription.

The interest rate on the October 2026 issue has been slightly reduced compared with the previous offer. The reduction reflects the recent 350-basis-point cut in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy Rate (MPR).

As monetary policy rates decline, yields on new fixed-income instruments generally adjust downward. Consequently, investors subscribing to the October 2026 FGN Savings Bond will receive a slightly lower interest rate than subscribers to the previous issue.

Despite the reduction in yield, the FGN Savings Bond remains an attractive option for investors seeking relatively low-risk, predictable income backed by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
