Wisdom nuggets before you marry him

Marry ‘early’ and right if you can. Focus on your partner, build with them, stay loyal, grow together, and be patient with each other. There’s nothing out there in the streets. All the energy you're expending to philander around would build a great marriage. Don’t waste your youth trying to chop life when life is actually chopping you, and you’re not getting any younger.

FOR WOMEN IN THEIR 20s AND 30s…

One day you wake up and realise you’re no longer the youngest woman in the room.

The years moved far more quickly than you imagined.

Your twenties and thirties feel endless while you’re living them.

They are not.

These decades quietly shape the rest of your life.

Many of the joys or struggles you experience in your forties, fifties and beyond will often trace back to the decisions you make now.

If I could sit down with every young woman, this is what I would tell her.

1.CHOOSE YOUR LIFE PARTNER WITH YOUR HEAD, NOT JUST WITH YOUR HEART.

Love matters.

Chemistry matters.

But character matters even more.

The wrong partner will drain your peace, limit your potential, damage your confidence and create years of unnecessary pain.

The right one will become your greatest teammate.

Choose wisely.

2.BECOME FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT.

Never place yourself in a position where your survival depends entirely on another person.

Earn.

Save.

Invest.

Build assets.

Financial independence gives you something priceless.

Freedom to make decisions based on wisdom instead of desperation.

3.PROTECT YOUR SELF RESPECT.

Not everyone deserves access to you.

Learn to say no without guilt.

Walk away from people who repeatedly disrespect you.

The standards you refuse to compromise today become the boundaries that protect your future.

4.DON’T MISTAKE ATTENTION FOR LOVE AND DON’T ASSUME YOU ARE LOVED JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE NEEDED

Many people will admire your beauty.

Far fewer will honour your heart.

Attention is easy to attract.

Respect is far more valuable.

Never confuse one for the other.

You can be needed but not cared for

A person can take so much from you and give you nothing in return.

Many people will want to leech off you. They do not care for you.

5.CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS CAREFULLY.

Some friendships will stretch you.

Others will slowly pull you away from your dreams.

Surround yourself with women who celebrate your success, challenge you to grow and tell you uncomfortable truths when necessary.

6.INVEST IN YOUR MIND EVERY YEAR.

Read books.

Learn new skills.

Master communication.

Understand money.

Study leadership.

Embrace technology and AI.

Your greatest asset is not your appearance.

It is your mind.

7.TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH NOW.

Exercise regularly.

Sleep well.

Eat nourishing food.

Maintain a healthy weight

Attend your health screenings.

Your future self will either thank you or wish you had started earlier.

8.DON’T SPEND YOUR LIFE TRYING TO IMPRESS STRANGERS.

Luxury handbags.

Designer labels.

The latest phone.

Expensive holidays for social media.

None of these build wealth.

Invest first.

Enjoy the rewards later.

9.DON’T RUSH BECAUSE SOCIETY IS RUSHING YOU.

Marriage is not a race.

Motherhood is not a competition.

Success has no universal timetable.

It is far better to arrive later in peace than arrive early in regret.

10.KNOW YOUR WORTH BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE TRIES TO DEFINE IT.

Confidence that depends on compliments disappears when the compliments stop.

Confidence built on character, competence and purpose cannot easily be taken away.

Above all, remember this.

Your twenties and thirties are not simply about having fun.

They are the foundation upon which the rest of your life will stand.

Build a life that gives you choices.

Build a life that gives you peace.

Build a life that makes your future self proud.

Women in your forties, fifties, sixties and beyond…

As you build with a man, build yourself solidly too. No loose guard because the man you built with from scratch and gave your all to faithfully can wake up tomorrow after many years and betray you so badly you will wonder if it’s the same person you married.
