Your Employer Deducts Pension From Your Salary Every Month. Here Is How To Find Out In 5 Minutes If They Are Actually Sending It.
Let me be direct with you.
Thousands of Nigerian employees have been contributing pension for years — only to reach retirement and discover their RSA balance is far lower than it should be.
Why? Their employer collected the deduction. And kept it.
Under Section 26 of the Pension Reform Act 2014 — that is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment and a minimum fine of ₦250,000.
But before you report anyone — first confirm what is actually in your account.
Here is exactly how. Right now. In 5 minutes.
Step 1 — Find Your RSA PIN
Your RSA — Retirement Savings Account — PIN is on your pension statement or any correspondence from your Pension Fund Administrator — PFA.
Don’t have it? Call your PFA directly. Every Nigerian employee should know their RSA PIN the way they know their BVN.
Step 2 — Check Your Balance On Your PFA App Or Website
Every major PFA in Nigeria has an online portal or mobile app where you can check your RSA balance in real time.
Stanbic IBTC Pension — stanbicibtcpension.com
ARM Pension — armpension.com
Leadway Pensure — leadwaypensure.com
AIICO Pension — aiicopension.com
Log in with your RSA PIN. Check your balance. Check the transaction history showing monthly contributions.
Takes less than 3 minutes.
Step 3 — Cross Reference With Your Payslip
Pull out your payslip. Find the pension deduction line — typically 8% of your basic salary from you plus 10% from your employer.
Add both figures. That combined amount should appear as a credit in your RSA every month.
If your payslip shows deductions but your RSA shows no corresponding credits — your employer is not remitting.
Step 4 — Contact Your PFA If Something Is Wrong
Call your PFA’s customer service line immediately. Report the discrepancy. Request a full contribution history statement.
Your PFA is legally required under PenCom regulations to investigate and report non-remitting employers to PenCom.
Step 5 — Report To PenCom If Your PFA Does Not Act
Go directly to pencom.gov.ng and file a formal complaint.
PenCom’s new Pension Contribution Remittance System validates all pension remittances before they are processed — creating a digital trail of every employer’s contribution history.
That digital trail is your evidence. And PenCom has the power to prosecute employers who steal pension contributions.
The Honest Truth
PenCom introduced the new online Pension Contribution Remittance System specifically to eliminate long-standing issues related to uncredited pension contributions and verification delays.
The system now makes it easier than ever to catch non-remitting employers.
But it only protects you if you check.
Most Nigerian employees have never looked at their RSA balance. Not once. In years of contributing.
Your employer is counting on that.
Open that app. Check that balance. Do it right now.
