These 10 Equity Mutual Funds Delivered Up To 82.36% In 2026 — Here’s What You Should Know
If you invested ₦5 million in some Nigerian equity mutual funds at the beginning of 2026, your money could have grown significantly by August.
According to Nairametrics Research analysis of SEC data, Nigeria’s equity mutual fund segment recorded 22 funds with a combined net asset value of ₦230.50 billion as of August 28, 2026.
Interestingly, the number of investors also increased.
Total unitholders rose to 127,837 in August, up from 121,316 in July — a 5.38% increase.
Here are the 10 equity mutual funds with the highest year-to-date returns as of August 28:
1. Zedcrest Equity Fund — 82.36%
A ₦5 million investment would have grown by approximately ₦4.12 million, giving about ₦9.12 million.
2. Halo Equity Fund — 67.00%
₦5 million would have generated approximately ₦3.35 million in returns, bringing the value to about ₦8.35 million.
3. Zrosk Magna Equity Fund — 64.73%
₦5 million would have generated approximately ₦3.24 million, taking the investment to about ₦8.24 million.
4. Futureview Equity Fund — 58.44%
₦5 million would have generated approximately ₦2.92 million, giving about ₦7.92 million.

10. Meristem Equity Market Fund — 46.64%
₦5 million would have generated approximately ₦2.33 million, bringing the value to about ₦7.33 million.
But here is the part investors need to understand:
These are past returns, not promises of future returns.
Equity mutual funds invest in stocks, which means their values can rise and fall with the market.
In fact, while the top-performing funds recorded impressive year-to-date returns, the overall equity mutual fund segment declined from ₦241.38 billion in July to ₦230.50 billion in August.
So don't look at an 82% return and conclude that your money will automatically make 82% next year.
Before investing, look at the fund’s investment strategy, fees, risk level, portfolio, track record, fund manager and your own investment horizon.
And remember: the highest return is not automatically the right investment for everyone.
The bigger lesson is that you don't necessarily need to personally pick individual stocks to participate in the Nigerian equity market. Mutual funds can provide diversified exposure to equities through professional fund management.
If you are trying to understand mutual funds and how they can fit into your wealth-building journey, start with the basics before chasing returns.
