One morning, I woke up feeling extremely confident. I checked my pocket and found only twenty shillings.

I smiled and told myself, “Today, we are going to make history.”

My pocket seemed to disagree.

I went outside and met a friend who asked, “How are things?” ..and because I don't allow my situation to define me...
I said, “Excellent! I’m managing several projects.”

He looked at me and asked, “Which projects?”

I proudly replied, “Project Survive Breakfast, Project Find Lunch, and Project inama , project hide from the landlord ...

He laughed so hard he nearly fell off his chair.

Later, I passed by a shop and saw a couple buying foodstuffs . I stood there admiring them like a tourist visiting a museum.

Then a friend called me and said, “I have an acting opportunity for you. Come tomorrow.”

Tomorrow came.

I went.

They said, “Come next week for auditions "

Next week came.

“Come next month.”

By then, even my shoes had started asking me, “Are we actually going somewhere?”

But something important happened during those difficult days. I stopped measuring my future by what was in my pocket.

I learned that sometimes your bank account can be empty while your mind is full of ideas. Your circumstances can be poor while your determination is rich.

So I kept learning, trying, laughing, failing and trying again.

And eventually I understood something:

A difficult season is not a life sentence. Sometimes life empties your pockets just to teach you that your real wealth was never the money—it was the courage, wisdom and strength you were carrying inside.

So if your pocket is currently making strange noises when you shake it, don't panic.

You may be broke today…

…but broke is a situation, not an identity.
Keep building. One day, the same people who laughed at your twenty shillings will be asking for financial advice.
