POLICE GO SOON TRACK YOU REACH HOUSE IF YOU DON’T STOP THIS BAD HABIT!

If you’re caught spreading fake news or false information online, just prepare yourself to chop stoney beans.

You see that urge to rush and share every piece of information you see online simply because your uncle, aunty, friend or untrusted source sent it to you? My brother, my sister, if you’re caught, nobody will spare you.

You go spend at least three years for Kirikiri wearing Chelsea uniform without even representing the club. 😂💔

Do you remember that fake information you people were sharing about OPay a week or two ago?

The girl who reportedly first shared it on X (Twitter) has been arrested. By now, she may have started ordering Bokku bread to use and manage her stony beans if OPay no pity her. 😂

Because if na me be OPay, I no go pity her at all. 😭

But wait…

How this one take concern you?

I hope you remember that you also joined them to share the same unverified information, as usual.

That same habit of seeing something online and immediately forwarding it to WhatsApp groups, Facebook, X, TikTok or your story without checking whether it is actually true can land you in serious trouble.

The same way authorities reportedly tracked the person who first shared the information, them fit track you too one day if you don’t learn to stop the habit.

And if them no track you today, you may eventually share something that catches the attention of the right authorities.

In fact, if you continue this habit, one day I fit be the person wey go report you. 😂

PLEASE, VERIFY BEFORE YOU SHARE.

Being the first person to share a piece of information does not make you intelligent. Sometimes, it simply makes you the first person to get into trouble.

And in Nigeria, depending on the circumstances and the specific law involved, deliberately publishing or transmitting certain false or misleading information online can attract criminal consequences, including imprisonment or fines.

For example:

🔹 Cybercrimes Act: Certain online communications involving false or misleading information, particularly where the statutory conditions are met, may attract criminal liability.

🔹 Criminal Code: Certain forms of false news or reports capable of causing fear, alarm or disturbance of public peace may also constitute an offence.

🔹 Defamation: Where false information is published about another person and unlawfully damages their reputation, there may also be legal consequences under applicable defamation laws.

So, before you press that “Share” button because your friend sent it to you, take a moment to ask:

Who originally reported this?
Where is the evidence?
Has any credible news platform confirmed it?
Can I verify it from an official source?

If you cannot answer these questions, leave the information where you found it.

Not every WhatsApp broadcast deserves your status.

Not every screenshot deserves your Facebook page.

Not every voice note deserves to enter your family group.

And not every information your favourite aunty sends you is from a very reliable source.

VERIFY BEFORE YOU AMPLIFY.

Because if them carry you go Kirikiri, you no go follow us see who go win next year election. 😂💔

Ire o!
